OK – you’ve seen what we say about ourselves, but what about our fans? Here’s a few comments submitted either via email or via our facebook page!
From Alex and Paul, after their wedding in May 2017:
“We had a legendary night and you and your boys were a major major part of it. Quote of many is ‘we thought we were going to a wedding and ended up at an amazing gig’. You blew everyone away and we felt you pulled all the stops out. Hope we were a good crowd. Please pass on our total thanks and gratitude to the crew.”
From the wonderful crowd at Harlequins RFC after we played post match in March 2017:
“Great atmosphere and the band afterwards was incredible.”
“We had a great day and the post-match band was excellent”
“The team played well and the band were excellent”
“The band played tunes that the crowd wanted to hear”
“At least the Band set up was better this week”
“Friendly atmosphere – great band after the game”
“We won, the weather was lovely and the band was great fun afterwards”
“rated higher than last time as after game atmosphere and band were loads better than recent home games!”
“Had the best time at the Stoop yesterday, you were brilliant.”
From Hannah and Craig:
We first saw Riser play at a “Jukebox” night at a pub in Binfield. We quickly realised that this was the type of band we wanted at our wedding. Someone requested a Pink Floyd song off of their set list, and any band that can whip out “Comfortably Numb” on the spur of the moment is alright by us!
We booked Riser for our wedding on 12th September 2014 and they didn’t disappoint. I wish I had been able to spend more time on the dance floor instead of having to talk to my guests! As it was we were invited up to “perform” with the band for “Mustang Sally” and “Fat Bottomed Girls” which will always be a standout memory from the day. Riser were brilliant at reading the room and to be honest nobody was interested in us cutting the cake as they were doing their sound check at the time and people were already on the dance floor! We requested several specific songs which weren’t normally in their repertoire, including our slightly unconventional first dance song and they did an amazing job. They even surprised us by wrapping up the evening with a Led Zeppelin medley!
Since the wedding we’ve had nothing but praise for Riser from our guests and requests for where people can go see them again. The guys were all really lovely and polite (and Lee is very funny). We gave them free reign with our room tab and were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill the next day! Can’t recommend them highly enough. If we have another big event Riser will definitely be hired again.
From Nicky Milton on Facebook:
Best live band I’ve seen in a long time, sang my favourite song : Simple Minds – Don’t You Forget About Me
From Jane Titchener:
Riser played for my 40th birthday party in September and they were nothing short of brilliant. The party had a rock theme, which they really embraced in both their set list and performance. All everyone was talking about afterwards was how great they were. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
From Zoe Nightingale:
Wanted to say a massive thank you to Riser for performing at our wedding 2 weeks ago. We had the most amazing day and the evening was made a night we will never forget by you guys. Dance floor never empty, everyone commented to us after how great the band were. Thanks again and look forward to hearing and seeing you again xx
From Debbie and Phil:
We have been to several venues following Riser, from charity events to local festivals and pubs. We try to see a live band at least a couple of times a month. We are groupies in our mid forties!
Riser have hosted a couple of amazing Jukebox events to raise money for the the Poppy Appeal and the British Legion which have become an annual event. This involves a very large song list and donations in return for playing requests. These have been brilliant events which have raised an amazing amount of money. We have found it to be such a fun night, despite the band expecting a little slow start, with the most lively songs kicking as the evening went on, however, from the start the rocking song requests kept coming and the atmosphere was fantastic
I love listening to the banter which is always encouraged from the band for audience participation to get people up and dancing. I cannot recall any event they have played where there was no dancing!
Lead singer Lee has also been known to arrange a few events for his own songs to be heard. Beautiful songs he has written and recorded to remember the war dead. We were most engaged with the Lights Out event this year where he sang his heart out by candlelight in a local Binfield pub.
We decided that Riser were the band we wanted for our wedding November 30th last year at the Burnham Beeches Hotel. We had an incredible evening with loads of dancing to such a variety of popular covers. They allowed my best friends 9 year old daughter to sing a song, which was fab and gave her so much confidence, as well as my brother who sings in another band. What really made the night was an ad-hoc acoustic session as the rest of the band packed up, Lee sat down with our group of hardcore last guests (who refused to go to bed) and we sat and laughed and joined in with songs which made the end of the night very personal and something to remember, and is remembered to us often by our friends. It was amazing and totally above what we expected. He was enjoying himself as much as we were.
We have seen Riser play at family events, including switching on of the Christmas lights at Maidenhead, headlining the firework display at Maidenhead United FC, and an all day event at the British Legion which was paired with another band Million $ Bash, which was a really successful day enjoyed by a huge amount of people. We see many bands and have our favorites but I have to say that of all of them, Riser are definitely the band for any lively fun and genuinely enjoy their company and we would recommend them as perfect for any party.
